PACK EXPO East – How to Make the Most Out of the Show
Coming up at the end of the month, thousands of people and companies from the packaging industry will meet in Philadelphia for PACK EXPO East 2017.
Shows like this are excellent networking opportunities, allowing you to meet and exchange ideas with people who can point you towards the best packaging solutions. You can check out the latest technology in action, learn about upcoming trends, and talk with suppliers and vendors.
Attending shows like PACK EXPO East can also be a little overwhelming. You don’t want to waste your time, you need to encounter the right people and learn about topics related to your needs.
Here are some ways to make sure you get everything you can out of your trip to Philly this month.
Get the Mobile App
Download the show’s official mobile app. It will be your secret weapon for maximizing the PACK EXPO East experience. Since you’ll have your smartphone in hand at all times, you won’t have to worry about carrying around floor plans and schedules.
The mobile app will allow you to:
- Search for exhibitors
- Look up conference sessions
- Use interactive floor plans
- Find specific products
- Check the airport shuttle schedule
There’s even an online tool that allows you to plan your personal agenda for the conference.
Identify the Right Vendors Ahead of Time
To help you pick the right people to meet with during your time at PACK EXPO East, the show’s website has a page displaying various industries with links to listings of relevant exhibitors.
Visit the My Industry page to make your list of the exhibits you don’t want to miss. There will be companies with products, services, and equipment for those in food and beverage, household chemicals, cosmetics and personal care, and pharmaceutical and medical devices, as well as other market verticals.
Look for Fresh-Lock® at the Presto Products® booth (Booth #1018). Our zippers and sliders for flexible packaging provide resealable closure solutions for many different markets. Learn more before the show when you check out the Markets page of our website.

Hear from Thought Leaders
There are a lot of impressive presentations planned, and the educational opportunities on the show’s Innovation Stage are free for show attendees.
These 30-minute seminars take place from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm on Monday and Tuesday, and the stage is located on the exhibition floor. We suggest planning to sit in on the Top Trends in Modern Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) with presenter Walter Goodfield of RKL eSolutions to learn about the latest business solutions and how to decipher what’s best for your organization.
There are also sessions on worker safety, FDA and USDA compliance, effectively using automatic identification and data capture (AIDC), and much more.
Attend the Healthcare Packaging Conference
This year’s event includes the Healthcare Packaging & Processing Conference, which will focus on the current industry landscape as well as emerging technologies. There is an additional fee for these sessions, which take place Monday and Tuesday morning from 8:00 am to noon.
The keynote speaker on Monday is Ron Yakubison from Merck & Company. His presentation will take a look at How to Succeed as a Packaging Professional in the Future.
Then on Tuesday morning, Guido Schmitz from Bayer will deliver a keynote presentation on The Importance of Holistic Design in Pharmaceutical Packaging Innovation.
Find Fresh-Lock® for More on Innovative Healthcare Packaging
There are quite a few important topics being discussed during the Healthcare Packaging & Processing Conference at PACK EXPO East. However, one area of interest that is not being addressed is child-resistant packaging.
This is becoming a significant subject for those in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries who want to take advantage of flexible packaging with reclosability while adhering to regulatory guidelines for special packaging.
We developed the Child-Guard® slider system as a way to help keep children safe around a wide variety of hazardous products. The child-resistant closure for flexible packaging provides a simple alternative to protect children, which provides parents peace of mind, and offer brands the opportunity to add value while showing a commitment to consumer safety.
Stop by booth #1018 to find out more about Child-Guard®. Plus, we can also show you the mini Slider, a new reduced scale closure that allows for slider applications on small-format flexible packaging, like stand-up pouches.
