Can’t-Miss Happenings at PACK EXPO 2018
PACK EXPO is one of the leading packaging trade shows and a great place to discover new innovations, learn about trends and solutions, and network with other industry peers. Every year thousands of packaging leaders, marketers, and engineers come together to grow and learn from each other.
“PACK EXPO has been instrumental in our success over the last three decades,” explains Fresh-Lock Specialty Commercial Director Rick Custer. “Each time we gather with the packaging community, we have the opportunity to strengthen relationships and develop new ones with others who want to bring innovation and consumer convenience to the market through packaging.”
The team at Fresh-Lock by Presto has been hard at work preparing for the 2018 show. To give you a preview of this year’s expo, we put together some can’t-miss happenings so you don’t miss a thing.
Insights, Motivations, and Innovations | Fresh-Lock Booth
New this year, Fresh-Lock is excited to show their customers what’s inside the minds of today’s consumers. Attendees will discover the behaviors of today’s consumers that is changing the packaging landscape.
“This year Fresh-Lock will be bringing the consumer to you,” shares Fresh-Lock Senior Manager of Market Development Todd Meussling. “Stop by Booth S-2130 to learn what four very important buying targets expect from reclosable packaging in today’s marketplace. You may actually know some of these people!”
After meeting consumers Sustainable Stacy, Millennials Michael and Jessica, Fitness Fred, and Retired Rita, you’ll leave with a snapshot of what generational considerations and intentions guide buying decisions.
Also featured in the booth will be the Fresh-Lock® Hurricane rotary over the top insertion machinery. “This is a new method to integrate slider capability with a pouch machine,” shares Fresh-Lock’s Mechanical Development Lead Nick DeRue. “It allows sliders to be applied to pouches at very high cycle rates – no need to slow down the machine.”
The new method results in simple, robust, and easy to maintain slider insertion. The best part? “The insertion equipment is mounted directly to the pouch machine,” DeRue adds.
Learn more about the Fresh-Lock® Hurricane insertion method and see a video of the machine running.
Throughout the show, the Fresh-Lock team will also be celebrating three decades in business.
“Fresh-Lock is extremely excited to have this opportunity to celebrate our 30th anniversary of serving the packaging industry at the PMMI Pack Expo show this year,” says Custer. “This show is all about collaboration, new opportunities, and innovations, but this year we will focus just a little extra time looking to the past and recognizing those people and relationships that brought us to this point.”
The booth will not only pay tribute to our history and recognize industry accomplishments, but will also look into the future and what it holds for reclosable flexible packaging.
“Our entire team hopes to see all our industry friends of the past 30 years in Chicago and to develop new relationships as we continue the journey of delivering innovation in packaging,” adds Custer.
Free Educational Opportunities | Innovation Stage
Make your way to Innovation Stage N-4585 on Tuesday, October 16 at noon where Fresh-Lock’s Todd Meussling and Tom Morsheimer will cover the topic of navigating the transition from rigid to flexible packaging.
The Modern Packaging Challenge: Making the Transition from Rigid to Flexible Packaging will outline the consumer demands driving packaging trends, areas with the biggest growth opportunities, and insights to stay ahead of the competition.
“I’m excited to participate in the 2018 Innovation Stage at Pack Expo Chicago,” shares Fresh-Lock’s Senior Manager of Market Development Tom Morsheimer. “From the manufacturing floor to the retail store, we will discuss the challenges and advantages that brands are faced with as the consumer preferences trend towards flexible packaging continues to grow.”
Attendees will have the chance to learn about packages that have successfully made the transition while also gaining insights and observations for up-and-coming industry opportunities.
Around the Show Floor | Closures in Action
On your way to or from the Innovation Stage, swing by the booths of our machinery partners that will be running Fresh-Lock closures throughout the show. Not all closures are created equal. Certain closure and machinery combinations are specifically designed for unique manufacturing requirements.
“Integration of a closure to your flexible package does not automatically mean you must reduce production rates,” says Fresh-Lock Business Manager John Athans. “See our closures in action at Sun Centre Booth E-10650, Totani Booth E-7124, and more.”
